A Man Of 100 Words
With a commendable passion for irrelevant movie non-issues, Liam’s blog puts the OCD back into “Awesomenesscd”.
Where are the Super Women?
by Liam Maguren, May 8 2012, A Man Of 100 Words blog,

With The Avengers cashing in more moo-lah than a James Cameron-directed Harry Potter film, the movie-going public have been given a comic book feast, and given Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises is only a few month away, the superhero salivation will simply continue.
Marvel and DC aren’t stopping the brigade anytime soon, with Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel and further Avengers-related instalments currently in the works. Now that the genre’s more successful than it has ever been, one question resides in my mind: where are the super women? Read on
Films That Tormented My Childhood
by Liam Maguren, April 17 2012, A Man Of 100 Words blog,

It was dangerous being an anxious child like I was and having a love for movies. My imaginarium was both a sanctum of solitude and a trapdoor to terror, constructed from the films I watched. Sometimes, it was my own fault for choosing a horror movie that I knew would have me quivering like an earthquake with Parkinson’s disease. Other times, I was blindsided, perhaps due to a lying friend or a film’s welcoming premise.
Whatever the reasons, movies took advantage of my youthful vulnerabilities. In a way, it’s a testament to the film for being able to create a pocket of frightful believability. But, most likely, it’s more of a reflection of how easily scared I was as a kid.
Here’s a list of things from movies that are responsible for a number of soggy bed sheets.
The Nature of Spoilers
by Liam Maguren, April 2 2012, A Man Of 100 Words blog,

Spoilers suck. People who spoil movies suck. Articles that fail to effectively utilise SPOILER ALERTS suck. It’s a universal fact.
It’s a unique sensation that overrides your mind. Like lava meeting dry ice, chaotic infuriation fuses with lumping mesh of depression, creating this ugly, near-incomprehensible wad of emotion. It doesn’t matter who spoiled it for you (whether they’re your jerk-off co-worker or your sweet 5-year-old niece), they’ll still be greeted with a swift timely kick to the eye-socket for blurting out such blasphemy.
It gets me wondering about the nature of such a problematic force: Read on
Seven Ways to Learn Movie Mumbo Jumbo
by Liam Maguren, March 20 2012, A Man Of 100 Words blog,

Having just seen John Carter, I feel the urge to express something about film that has gone largely unnoticed. No, I’m not doing another John Carter analysis. Between Dom’s review and Raj’s recent post, what ground is there left to cover? However, there is a particular part in Disney’s epic sci-fi money-shredder that got my brain churning.
When Carter is eventually beamed to Mars, there’s this part (which is not a spoiler by any means) where he’s being ‘prepared’ by the local alien tribe, the Tharks. During this initiation, he is forced to drink from a bottle of liquid… something. After that, BOOM, he understands AND speaks fluent Tharkian (sp?). Read on
The Art of Action
by Liam Maguren, March 6 2012, A Man Of 100 Words blog,

Admittedly, action films are on the lower half of my preferred film genres. Nevertheless, if there’s one that comes along and blows my innocent mind, I’ll be fist-pumping like a drunk frat boy at an O-week beer pong tourney. Although action is not my forte, I can be pretty unforgiving towards lazy efforts.
Being a self-indulgent film geek with one-too-many opinions, I feel I’m justified in my freakishly specific tastes. Being a self-indulgent movie blogger, it’s imperative that I try to convince others (i.e. you, fine reader) of my view. Read on

Movie Video Games That Actually Exist
by Liam Maguren, February 21 2012, A Man Of 100 Words blog,

Time has the power to render all things oblivious. Some things decay into pop-cultural mythology faster than others, as is the case with movie-video-game tie-ins. While a great number of them deserve to stay in existential ambiguity, there are a couple of curious titles that deserve some attention. This is not to say that they’re any good, but the idea that someone had the vision to think that these films could make good games appeals to me greatly.
A little bit of research goes a long way, and you may be very surprised at what I found. So unzip the fly to your brain, ‘cause I’m about to get on my knees and blow your mind. Read on
A Film Guide to Heartbreak
by Liam Maguren, February 7 2012, A Man Of 100 Words blog,

With Valentine’s Day approaching, it seems appropriate to talk about love and film and how well they mesh together. Films are outlets that allow us to express the depths, the beauty and the idiosyncrasy of even the simplest human emotion. Love is an experience that hit’s the apex; a natural euphoria.
Love also sucks balls.
It works both ways. With depth, beauty and idiosyncrasy comes complexity, ugliness and cheating bastards/bitches. I’ve had my unfair share of messy, mundane, merciless break-ups and rejections, usually remedied by a night locked in my room with a case of beer re-watching the first season of Pokémon on DVD.
